Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Église Saint Maurice.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
Église Saint-Maurice is located in the heart of the Vieil Annecy (old town), making it easily accessible on foot from most central locations. From the Hôtel de Ville (city hall), simply cross the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville; the church is directly opposite. From the Palais de l'Isle, walk along the Quai du Thiou, then turn onto Rue Saint-Maurice. The church will be on your right. The walk is short and straightforward, allowing you to soak in the atmosphere of the old town. No special transport or tolls are required.
Public Transport
If arriving by bus, the closest bus stops are within a short walking distance in the city center. From the bus station (Gare d'Annecy), walk towards the old town, following signs for Vieil Annecy. Once in the old town, follow the directions above from Palais de l'Isle. A single bus fare within Annecy costs approximately €1.50. Check the SIBRA (Annecy's public transport) website or app for the most up-to-date schedules and routes. Note that some bus routes may have slight diversions due to ongoing works.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available in Annecy. Simply request a ride to Église Saint-Maurice in the Vieil Annecy. Be aware that traffic within the old town can be congested, especially during peak tourist season. A short taxi ride from the train station or a location on the outskirts of the old town should cost approximately €8-€12. There are no specific drop-off points directly in front of the church due to pedestrianized zones, so you may need to walk the final 50-100 meters.
Driving
Driving directly to Église Saint-Maurice is not recommended due to the limited access and pedestrianized nature of the Vieil Annecy. Parking is available in several paid parking lots around the perimeter of the old town. The closest parking options are Parking Sainte-Claire and Parking de l'Hôtel de Ville. Expect to pay around €2-€3 per hour for parking. From the parking lot, follow pedestrian signs to the Vieil Annecy and Église Saint-Maurice. Be prepared for a short walk (5-10 minutes) from the parking lot to the church. Only the Gare and Chevêne parking lots are open 24/7.
