The estate's story began in 1880 when François Rabasse acquired a small cottage and three hectares of vines and olive trees. His son, Edmond, continued the tradition, even while working as a hatmaker, vinifying the harvest and selling a modest 500 bottles of wine each year. In 1925, Marcel Rabasse, Edmond's son, took over the business, expanding the vineyard and increasing bottle sales. The domaine further evolved in 1950 when Jeannine Rabasse married Abel Charavin, a native of Rasteau with his own small vineyard. Together, they enlarged the estate, which soon covered nearly twenty hectares. Their dedication to quality led to widespread recognition and numerous awards for their wines. Corinne Rabasse took over in 1984, sooner than expected due to her father's illness. Her husband, Jean-Paul Couturier, added vineyards in Violès, Travaillan, and Plan de Dieu, bringing the total area to forty hectares. Today, their daughter, Laure Couturier, manages the domaine, continuing the family's commitment to excellence. A new cellar has been built to meet the demands of modern winemaking, ensuring the highest standards of production. Domaine Rabasse Charavin's vineyards are located on hillsides between Cairanne and Rasteau, benefiting from the region's ideal climate and diverse soils.
