Discover more about 87 Quai des Queyries

Quai des Queyries, located on the right bank of the Garonne River in Bordeaux, has a rich history dating back to the origins of the Bastide district. The name 'Queyries' comes from the Gascon word 'queiria,' meaning stone blocks, reflecting the area's past as a site for quarry stone transport. Marshes once dominated the landscape, eventually giving way to osier beds and vineyards by the 17th century. With the construction of the Pont de Pierre (Stone Bridge), the arrival of the railway, and the industrialization of the area, Quai des Queyries became a thriving industrial center in the early 20th century. The quai was equipped with extensive docking facilities, railway lines, factories, warehouses and shipyards. However, the area fell into decline in the 1980s. Today, Quai des Queyries has been revitalized as a residential and recreational area. The waterfront promenade provides scenic views of Bordeaux's left bank. Notable attractions include the Darwin Ecosystem, an eco-friendly space with co-working areas, restaurants, and a skate park, and the Parc aux Angéliques, a green space along the river. The Quai is a popular spot for walking, jogging, and cycling, offering a blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
