Its unique pentagonal design, centered around a mesmerizing spiral staircase and a well fed by three springs, sets it apart from other châteaux in France. Commissioned by Louise de Clermont and Antoine de Crussol, important figures during the Wars of Religion, the château's architecture is attributed to Philibert de l'Orme. After falling into disrepair, the Yonne department acquired it in 1997 and began extensive restoration. Today, visitors can explore this historical monument through self-guided or guided tours, immersing themselves in its rich history and architectural marvels. The château also hosts various events throughout the year, making it a vibrant cultural destination.
