Key transformations occurred in the 15th century when Jean V de Bueil began rebuilding it, and later during the 17th century when modifications opened up views to the terraced gardens and the Loire River. The gardens themselves were designed by Le Nôtre, who also designed the gardens of Versailles.Visitors can explore the castle's furnished interiors, featuring furniture from the 18th century and tapestries.     Château d'Ussé is located in Rigny-Ussé, approximately 45 minutes west of Tours. From Tours, follow the A85 autoroute. Take the Bourgueil exit and follow local signs to Rigny-Ussé. Free parking is available in front of the château. Be aware that the parking can be saturated depending on the season.

    From Paris Montparnasse, take a train to Tours. Change trains in Tours to Rivarennes. From Rivarennes, take a taxi approximately 3.7 miles to the château. Taxi fares are approximately €10-€15.
