Public Transport
From the Dijon city center, head to the Dijon Gare (train station). You can take tram line T1 or T2 to reach the station. Once at Dijon Gare, purchase a ticket to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. Trains to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois run a few times a day, so check the schedule in advance. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Châteauneuf-en-Auxois station, exit the station and walk towards the main road (D973). Follow the signs to Château de Châteauneuf, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the station.

Walking
If you are staying in central Dijon and prefer to walk, start at Place de la République. Head southwest towards Rue de la Liberté. Follow this road as it turns into Rue de la Préfecture, then merge onto Rue de la Gare. Continue straight until you reach the train station. From there, you can take the train as described above. If you're planning to walk the entire distance, it’s about a 30-kilometer trek, which is not typical for tourists.

For a more adventurous option, rent a bicycle in Dijon. Start at the Dijon city center and head towards the bike paths leading out of the city. Follow the signs for the D973 road towards Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. The ride will take you through the scenic countryside, and it’s about 30 kilometers to the castle. Make sure to check the bike rental hours and availability.
