If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Sarlat-la-Canéda. Head east on D704 towards Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet. Continue on D704 for approximately 12 kilometers. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto D46. Follow D46 for about 3 kilometers until you see signs for Chateau de Lacypierre. Turn left onto the road that leads directly to the castle entrance. Parking is available on-site. Be aware that the roads can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully.
Public Transportation
To reach Castle Lacypierre via public transportation, first take a train from major cities like Bordeaux or Brive-la-Gaillarde to Sarlat-la-Canéda. From Sarlat, you can catch a regional bus (number 31) that runs to Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet. The bus fare is approximately €2.50. Once you arrive at the stop in Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet, it is about a 20-minute walk (1.5 kilometers) to the castle. Follow the signs towards the Chateau de Lacypierre. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route and have luggage, consider taking a taxi or rideshare service from Sarlat-la-Canéda directly to Castle Lacypierre. The drive is approximately 15 minutes and should cost around €20-€30, depending on traffic and time of day.
