Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, the Cascade du Val is located in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans. From Besançon, take the D67 road towards Baume-les-Dames. After approximately 30 kilometers, turn onto the D4 towards Pierrefontaine-les-Varans. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the village. Once in the village, follow the signs for Ruisseau du Val. There is a small parking area near the cascade, but be mindful that it may fill up quickly on weekends.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a train from Besançon to the nearest station, which is in Baume-les-Dames. This journey takes about 30 minutes. From Baume-les-Dames, you can catch a local bus (line 21) that goes to Pierrefontaine-les-Varans. The bus ride takes approximately 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans, you may need to walk about 1 kilometer to reach the Cascade du Val. Ensure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited, especially on weekends.

• Walking

  If you are already in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans, the Cascade du Val is accessible by foot. From the town center, head towards Ruisseau du Val, which is well-marked with signs. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes along a scenic path. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for some uneven terrain.
