From central La Rochelle, head to the main bus station (Gare Routière) located near the train station. Take bus line 3 towards Rochefort. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Pont Transbordeur' stop. Once you exit the bus, walk towards the waterfront and you will see the Pont Transbordeur directly ahead.
Train and Walk
Make your way to La Rochelle's train station (Gare de La Rochelle). From there, take a train to Rochefort. The train ride takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive at Rochefort station, exit the station and head east on Rue de la Gare. Continue straight until you reach Avenue Jacques Demy. Turn left, and you will find the Pont Transbordeur a short walk away along the waterfront.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in La Rochelle. Start at the Vélos Jaunes bike rental locations around the city. Head southeast along the coastal path towards Rochefort. Follow the signs for the bike route to Rochefort, which will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Rochefort, follow the signs to Avenue Jacques Demy, where you will find the Pont Transbordeur.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from La Rochelle to Rochefort. Start from the Old Port area and head southeast towards the waterfront. Follow the path along the coast, which is quite scenic. This route is approximately 10 kilometers and will take around 2 hours. Once you reach Rochefort, continue towards Avenue Jacques Demy to find the Pont Transbordeur.
