Erected in 1540 by Jean Chantois, an elected official for the King, the castle embodies the spirit of a Renaissance country house, complete with a tower, staircase, gallery, and chapel. In the following century, Jean de Lubersac expanded the estate, and in the 18th century, officers from the Limoges Finance Office, the Texandier de Losmonerie family, brought further refinement to the interior. A formal and flowery garden surrounds the historic buildings, while a gourmet garden features France's largest collection of raspberries, with over 100 varieties to taste. A wild garden on the banks of the Vienne River offers a unique landscape with small islands and waterfalls, best viewed from a large wicker hut designed by Emmanuel Puybonnieux.
