Parc Zoo Reynou, situated in the commune of Le Vigen, a few kilometers south of Limoges, offers visitors of all ages the chance to observe, understand, and appreciate the animal and plant world. The park, which opened on July 1, 1997, spans over 60 hectares and is home to more than 600 animals representing 130 different species from five continents.The zoo is organized around the Haviland family château, dating back to the 18th century, and features atypical rock gardens created by André Laurent in the late 19th century. The landscape includes rare plant species for the region, such as giant redwoods and American oaks. The park is designed to allow animals to reside in environments closely resembling their natural habitats, with geographical sectors including African and Asian plains, a South American sector, an Australian sector, and a mini-farm.Visitors can encounter a wide variety of animals, from pygmy marmosets to Rothschild's giraffes, as well as snow leopards, red pandas, kinkajous, and Visayan warty pigs. The park actively participates in breeding programs for endangered species and emphasizes wildlife preservation. Educational programs and live demonstrations are available, offering insights into the park's mission and the animals' natural behaviors. The park is open daily from April to September, and on Wednesdays, weekends, holidays, and during school holidays from October to March.
