In its heyday, the Grotte du Loup featured a restaurant and was a favored spot for leisurely excursions, particularly during the pilgrimage season. Conveniently located near the Sanctuaries and city center, it offered a peaceful retreat into nature. Over time, however, the site transitioned away from its commercial past. Since 2005, the caves have been closed, and the restaurant has been demolished.Today, the Grotte du Loup is known as a climbing spot. Despite its change in use, the Grotte du Loup retains its allure, inviting visitors to explore its natural beauty and discover a different side of Lourdes, away from the bustling pilgrimage sites.

Getting There
Walking
From the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, head north, following signs towards the Bois de Lourdes. The walk is approximately 1.5km and should take around 20-30 minutes. Once you pass the bridge over the Gave de Pau, continue straight, following the road. The entrance to Grotte du Loup will be on your left, marked by the ruins of the former tourist facilities.
Public Transport
From the Lourdes train station (Gare SNCF), take bus line 4 or 5 towards the Sanctuary. Get off at a stop near the Sanctuary, such as 'Grotte'. From there, follow the walking directions. A single bus ticket costs €1 and is valid for one hour, allowing connections.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Lourdes, especially near the train station and the Sanctuary. A taxi ride from the city center to Grotte du Loup will take approximately 10 minutes, costing around €14, with a base fare of €5 and €1.8 per km.
