From central Lyon, the easiest way to reach the base of Montée Soulary is via the Metro. Take Line C to the Croix-Rousse station. From there, walk downhill (south) along Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse, then turn right onto Rue de Belfort. Continue a short distance until you see the start of the staircase on your left. A single TCL ticket costs €2 and is valid for one hour across bus, metro, and tram lines.

If you are already in the Croix-Rousse neighborhood, simply navigate towards the intersection of Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and Rue de Belfort. From there, look for the clearly visible staircase descending the hillside. If you are near the Rhône river, walk towards the Winston Churchill bridge. The Montée Soulary starts near the bridge. No costs are associated with walking.
