If you are near the Promenade des Anglais, start by heading inland towards the Old Town (Vieux Nice). Walk along Rue de France until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Hotel des Postes. Turn right onto Rue de l'Hotel des Postes and continue straight until you reach Place Massena. From there, head towards Rue Jean Médecin, which is the main shopping street. Continue straight until you reach the tram stop at 'Jean Médecin.' Take the tram Line 1 towards 'Hôpital Pasteur' and get off at the 'Palais des Congrès' stop. From there, walk straight ahead on Avenue de Verdun, and take a left onto Rue de la Préfecture, which will lead you to Place Pierre Gautier where the Palais de la Préfecture is located.

If you are near a tram stop, you can easily reach Palais de la Préfecture using the tram. Take Tram Line 1 towards 'Hôpital Pasteur' and get off at the 'Palais des Congrès' stop. Once you exit the tram, walk straight along Avenue de Verdun, and then turn left onto Rue de la Préfecture. This will lead you directly to Place Pierre Gautier, where the Palais de la Préfecture is located.
