Getting There

• Walking

  If you're already in Montmartre, the best way to reach Place du Tertre is on foot. Start by heading towards Rue des Abbesses, which is a well-known street in the area. From there, follow Rue des Abbesses uphill until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Vieuville. Turn right onto Rue de la Vieuville, and continue walking straight. As you ascend, you will see the steps leading to Place du Tertre. Follow the signs or the crowd, as this area is popular with tourists and locals alike.

• Funicular

  If you prefer a more relaxed ascent, you can take the Montmartre Funicular. Locate the funicular station at the base of Montmartre, near the entrance of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica. The funicular operates daily from 6:00 AM to 12:45 AM. The ride is free if you have a valid public transport ticket (Navigo, Paris Visite, or single ticket). After a short ride, you will arrive at the top, and from there, it’s just a short walk to Place du Tertre.

• Public Transportation (Metro)

  If you're further away in Montmartre, you can take the Paris Metro to reach the area. The closest metro station to Place du Tertre is Abbesses (Line 12). Once you exit the station, follow the signs leading towards Rue des Abbesses. Walk straight along this street until you reach the steps leading up to Place du Tertre. The metro ticket costs around €1.90, and you can purchase it at the ticket machines at the station.
