Discover more about Hutreau Garden

Hutreau Garden, located in Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, is a sprawling 9-hectare park designed to cater to visitors of all ages. The park's history dates back to its origins as a 'closerie,' a complete agricultural operation with gardens, orchards, and vineyards. The city of Angers acquired the land in 1972, with the vision of creating a large green space for recreation and relaxation. The garden is characterized by its diverse recreational activities and natural beauty. Lush greenery, impressive trees, and well-maintained trails create an inviting atmosphere for leisurely strolls and family outings. Children can enjoy the diverse playgrounds, complete with zip lines, spider webs, and climbing structures. Friendly farm animals like goats, rabbits, and ducks add to the park's charm. Visitors can relax and connect amidst serene surroundings in the ample picnic spaces. The spacious layout ensures enough room to unwind or engage in exciting outdoor activities. The park also prioritizes accessibility, making it a pleasant destination for everyone. In 1944, the Gestapo used Hutreau as their headquarters. After they fled during the liberation of Angers, the Ursulines took over the property again from 1944 to 1946 to resume teaching. Hutreau became one of the forty family vacation homes of the Popular Family Movement in 1947. The park is open year-round, allowing visitors to experience its beauty in every season.
