Discover more about Clos Alexandre

Tucked away on the southwestern edge of Amiens, not far from the university campus, lies Clos Alexandre, a delightful private garden that welcomes visitors during the warmer months and for special cultural events. This enchanting 5,000 square meter space began as a family vegetable garden in 1932, cultivated by Alexandre Lemaître and his family. For thirty years, they grew various fruits and vegetables with the help of local experts. After a period of abandonment, Alexandre's son, Jean Lemaître, and his sister Nicole lovingly restored the garden in 1992. Today, Clos Alexandre is organized into themed 'garden rooms,' each with its own distinct character. Wander through the water garden, lose yourself in the apple tree labyrinth, or find serenity in the medieval-inspired cloister. Other areas include a traditional vegetable garden, a romantic garden, a garden filled with potted plants, a small wooded area, and a garden designed to create a sense of perspective. The garden is home to over 250 species and 1,500 varieties of plants, including collections of clematis, Japanese maples and viburnum. Clos Alexandre offers a peaceful retreat where visitors can relax, explore, and connect with nature.
