Parc de Bayser: A Green Oasis in Compiègne

Parc de Bayser is a charming, two-hectare park located on the periphery of Compiègne, offering a green and floral escape for both residents and tourists. The park seamlessly blends into the vast Compiègne Forest, providing a natural extension for exploration and relaxation. Originally established in the 18th century as part of a private estate, the park's design reflects its rich history. Tall, mature trees provide ample shade, creating a cool and inviting atmosphere for visitors to unwind. Meandering paths guide visitors through the park, revealing various points of interest, including a remarkable rose garden boasting around 364 different rose varieties. Parc de Bayser is particularly popular with families, offering a range of activities for children. Youngsters can enjoy cycling, playing ball games on the open lawns, and testing their balance on the fitness trail. In the summer, the park hosts "Compiègne Plage," a special event that brings a beach-like atmosphere to the park. The site was once the location of the Abbaye de Royallieu, and later, the Château de Bayser, where Etienne Balsan welcomed a young Gabrielle Chanel, contributing to her early success. Today, visitors can still see vestiges of the abbey, including the porterie, a few capitals, and two stone vases.
