The Grotte du Mas d'Azil is a remarkable cave in the Ariège region of France, famed for its immense size, unique geological features, and rich prehistoric significance. It's one of the few caves in the world you can drive through, and it lent its name to the Azilian period of prehistory.

Driving
From the village of Le Mas-d'Azil, the Grotte du Mas d'Azil is readily accessible by car via the D119. The cave entrance is located directly on the road, within the tunnel. A free parking lot is available just south of the cave entrance. Be aware that the road through the cave has a speed limit of 30 km/h, and vehicles exceeding 3 meters in height are prohibited. Parking is free.
Public Transport
From Toulouse, take the train to Carbonne, followed by bus line 322 to Le Mas d'Azil on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the summer. Alternatively, take bus line 59 from Toulouse to Montesquieu-Volvestre, then connect via taxi to Le Mas d'Azil. A taxi from Montesquieu-Volvestre to Le Mas d'Azil will cost approximately €20-€30.
