    Discover more about Luchrone

Le Luchrone, also known as "l'oeuf" (the egg) by locals, is a captivating sculpture located in Reims' Parc des Arènes du Sud. Created by artist Alain Le Boucher and gifted to the city in 1989, this unique work of art is a testament to the fusion of art, technology, and community spirit. Originally situated on the Place de la République, the Luchrone was composed of a metallic armature adorned with 324 light bulbs, controlled by an electronic brain to create a symphony of light. After falling into disrepair in 2009 and being temporarily stored, the sculpture was lovingly restored by students and teachers at the Lycée Saint Jean Baptiste de la Salle. In 2020, the Luchrone found a new home in the Parc des Arènes du Sud, where it continues to shine 24/7. The renovated sculpture features LED lights and a new control system programmed in Python, ensuring its longevity and captivating display for years to come. This rebirth symbolizes the city's commitment to preserving its artistic heritage and fostering community engagement. Le Luchrone stands as a reminder of Reims' rich history and its embrace of modern art. Its presence in the park offers a unique and enchanting experience for visitors, especially when viewed at night.
