The Port de Dinan, also known as Port de Dinan-Lanvallay, is a charming marina located on the Rance River, at the foot of the historic town of Dinan. For centuries, the port served as a vital trading post, connecting Dinan to Northern Europe, Spain and the Americas. Linen and hemp cloth manufactured in Dinan were shipped throughout Europe. Today, the port is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Visitors can stroll along the quays, admire the yachts and sailing boats, and enjoy the views of the medieval city. Quai Tallard is particularly known for its picturesque scenery. The port is also home to numerous restaurants and crêperies, many offering outdoor seating with views of the harbor. The port is connected to the upper town of Dinan by three steep, cobbled streets: Rue Haute-Voie, Rue du Petit-Fort, and Rue du Jerzual. These streets are lined with well-preserved medieval houses, many of which now house artisan shops and art galleries. The Maison d'Artiste de la Grande Vigne, the former home of painter Yvonne Jean-Haffen, is located near the port and has been converted into a museum. Boat trips are available from the port to St-Malo and the Channel Islands, as well as leisurely cruises along the Rance River.
