Discover more about Château de Bon Repos

Nestled in the Jarrie Valley, Château de Bon Repos is a charming castle that evokes the allure of the Middle Ages. Constructed around 1470 by Guillaume Armuet, this historic site showcases architecture from the early Renaissance. The castle is characterized by its four prominent towers, which dominate the landscape and add to its picturesque appeal. Over the centuries, the Château de Bon Repos has passed through several families, including the Armuets, Auberjon de Murinais, and Costa de Beauregard. In the 19th century, Jules Jouvin was among its owners. Unfortunately, a roof collapse in 1917 led to the castle's deterioration. In 1976, the municipality of Jarrie acquired the Château from Jouvin's descendants and began investing in its restoration, including converting its cellars for artistic and cultural purposes. The Association du Château de Bon Repos, established in 1978, actively contributes to the restoration and animation of the castle. Today, visitors can explore the castle's exterior and grounds, and admire its well-maintained structure. The interior is open to the public for free on the third Sunday of each month, except in August. The association also organizes theatrical and choreographic performances outdoors, drawing numerous actors, dancers, and volunteers. The surrounding grounds have become a refuge for birds since 2011.
