Église Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, located in Strasbourg, is a testament to the city's rich and layered history. The site has been a place of worship since the 7th century, with the current Protestant church built upon the foundations of previous religious structures. The church's architecture reflects its long evolution. Parts of the original Romanesque building, dating back to 1031, can still be seen, including the base of the bell tower. The main structure is largely Gothic, with construction beginning in the 13th century and consecrated in 1320. Over the following centuries, chapels and other features were added, resulting in the unique architectural blend visible today. Inside, visitors can admire 14th and 15th-century frescoes, a tribune, and a Silbermann organ from 1780. The cloister, with its arcade galleries, provides a tranquil space to contemplate the church's long past.Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune has also played a significant role in the religious history of Strasbourg. In 1524, the parish adopted the ideas of the Reformation, becoming one of the first Protestant churches in the city. However, in 1681, Louis XIV granted the Catholic community use of the choir, dividing the church. This arrangement lasted until 1898 when a new Catholic church was built, and Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune once again became entirely Protestant.
