Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Courmayeur, take the bus line 581 towards Val Veny. The bus departs from Piazzale Monte Bianco in Courmayeur. Get off at La Visaille, which is a common starting point for hikes in Val Veny. The bus fare is approximately €2.80. From La Visaille, follow the well-marked trails towards destinations like Lake Combal or Rifugio Elisabetta.

  • Walking

    If starting from Courmayeur, walk towards Entrèves, then follow the road leading to Val Veny. The walk to the Val Veny entrance takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. Once in Val Veny, continue on the main road, which eventually becomes a dirt track, to reach popular spots like the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de la Guérison and the beginning of various hiking trails. Note that the walk from Courmayeur to the head of the valley is considerable, so consider using local bus transport for at least a portion of the journey.

  • Car

    From Courmayeur, follow the signs towards Val Veny. Drive through Entrèves and continue along the Val Veny road. In the summer, you can drive as far as Fréney, where there are paid parking areas. Parking costs vary, with hourly rates ranging from €1.50 to €3.00 and a maximum of €15.00 for 24 hours. Be aware that parking spaces are limited (260 spaces), especially during peak season, so arrive early. In winter, the road is closed to cars beyond a certain point.
