Most visitors will likely be coming from Vaitape, the main town in Bora Bora, or from resorts located on other motus. From Vaitape: Arrange for a water taxi or boat transfer to the Lagoonarium. Many hotels and resorts can assist in booking these services. The boat ride offers scenic views of Mount Otemanu and the surrounding lagoon. From other motus: Inquire with your resort about boat shuttles or private water taxi services to the Lagoonarium. Cost: Water taxi fares vary, but expect to pay around 2,000-5,000 XPF (approximately $20-$50 USD) for a one-way trip, depending on the distance and time of day. Some resorts offer complimentary shuttle services to nearby attractions; inquire upon booking.

Discover more about Lagoonarium

The Bora Bora Lagoonarium is a family-run, natural aquarium on a small island (motu) to the east of Bora Bora's main island. Founded in 1984 by Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, the Lagoonarium provides a safe and enclosed environment to learn how to snorkel and appreciate marine life. Here, marine life is kept in captivity within a miniature lagoon, allowing visitors to observe and interact with various species under the guidance of animal experts. You can see sharks, turtles, rays, and a wide variety of fish species. The Lagoonarium also serves as a protected habitat and coral nursery, with marine biologists performing weekly maintenance to help save tropical marine life. The circulation of cold saltwater from the ocean depths is engineered to promote coral growth, creating a nutrient-rich environment for coral regeneration and marine life. Depending on the tour you select, you can enjoy extras such as a barbecue picnic or an island tour by canoe. The eastern motus also offer stunning views of Mount Otemanu, adding to the scenic boat ride to the Lagoonarium.
