Discover more about Cascade Vaimahuta

Cascade Vaimahuta is a stunning waterfall located in the Faarumai Valley on the eastern side of Tahiti Nui. It is the most accessible of the three Faarumai Waterfalls, making it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The waterfall cascades down 80 meters (262 feet) of rocky cliffs, surrounded by vibrant tropical foliage. The lush surroundings create a serene and breathtaking environment, perfect for relaxation and contemplation. The Faarumai Valley is steeped in local legend, adding to the allure of the falls. According to one tale, the valley is named after Faùai, a princess who, forbidden to speak to young men, found love in the valley with Ivi, a local genie. The Vaimahuta Fall appeared when guards pursuing the couple were covered by water. While swimming is not allowed at the base of Vaimahuta Fall due to the risk of rockfalls, visitors can still enjoy the beauty of the falls and the surrounding rainforest. A short, easy trail leads to the base of the falls, making it accessible to most visitors. For those seeking more adventure, a 15-minute hike leads to a viewing platform for the two other Faarumai Waterfalls: Haamaremare Rahi (100 meters) and Haamaremare Iti (40 meters).
