    Discover more about Khareba Winery

Khareba Winery, located a few kilometers from Kvareli in the Kakheti region, is more than just a winery; it's a comprehensive immersion into Georgia's rich winemaking heritage. The winery's centerpiece is its impressive tunnel system, carved into the Caucasus mountains during the Soviet era in the 1960s, originally built for an international wine competition. These tunnels, stretching over 7.7 kilometers, provide the ideal environment for storing and aging wine, maintaining a constant temperature of 12-14°C and 70% humidity. A visit to Khareba Winery offers a multifaceted experience. Guests can take guided tours of the tunnels, learning about traditional Georgian winemaking methods, including the use of qvevri, large clay vessels for fermentation and storage. Wine tastings allow visitors to sample a wide array of Khareba's wines, showcasing the diversity of Georgian grapes and winemaking styles. Beyond the wine itself, Khareba offers insights into Georgian culture, with opportunities to bake traditional bread, distill chacha (a local spirit), harvest grapes, and make churchkhela (a traditional candy). Khareba Winery owns 1,500 hectares of vineyards across Georgia, cultivating both Georgian and European grape varieties. The winery produces over 50 types of products, including wines, sparkling wine, wine brandy, chacha and grape seed oil. The Kvareli Wine Cave can store up to 26,000 bottles of Khareba's finest wines. The winery also has a restaurant that serves Georgian and European dishes. Since 2009, Khareba Winery has hosted over two million visitors.
