Ninoskhevi Waterfall: A Kakhetian Cascade

The Ninoskhevi Waterfall, located 8 km from Gurgeniani village in the Kakheti region, is a highlight of Lagodekhi National Park. The waterfall itself plunges 40 meters, creating a breathtaking spectacle that attracts nature lovers. The journey to the waterfall is an adventure in itself. The trail, approximately 8.5 km long, begins at the Gurgeniani Information Center and follows the Ninoskhevi River. The path meanders through a valley, with the sounds of the river and smaller cascades accompanying hikers. The hike is considered moderately challenging, taking 4-6 hours to complete, and involves multiple river crossings, especially during the spring when water levels are higher. Hikers should wear appropriate footwear, as the terrain includes wet boulders and stones. Along the way, hikers can admire the diverse flora of the Lagodekhi Protected Areas, including rare relict plants like Lagodekhi gentian and snowdrop, as well as chestnut and Georgian oak trees. Lucky visitors might even spot local wildlife such as deer or wild boar.
