Leghvtakhevi Waterfall, a 22-meter cascade, is a hidden gem located in the Old Tbilisi district of Abanotubani. The name Leghvtakhevi comes from the Georgian word for fig, referencing the fig trees that once populated the area. Historically, the Leghvtakhevi Gorge separated the ancient district of Kala from the rest of the city. The waterfall has been known by various names throughout history, including Tsavkisiskhevi, Sololakiskhevi, and Dabakhana.Legend says that Queen Tamar of Georgia used the waterfall as her personal bath. In the 19th century, the Tbilisi Botanical Garden was established in this area. For years, the area was a parking lot, but it was renovated in 2012, transforming it into a scenic natural attraction.Today, visitors can stroll through the Leghvtakhevi Canyon, enjoying the lush greenery, towering cliffs, and the soothing sounds of the waterfall. A walk along the river, past the colorful Orbeliani Baths, leads to the waterfall. The area is particularly enchanting in the evening when the streetlights illuminate the waterfall.
