Discover more about Batumi Boulevard

Batumi Boulevard, a landmark of the city, extends 7 kilometers along the Black Sea coastline. Established in 1881, the boulevard's creation was initiated by Batumi's district governor, who commissioned a Prussian gardener named Reseller to design the coastal promenade. Later, French gardener and designer Michel d'Alphonse, often called the "Kind Genie of the Batumi Seaside," continued the development, shaping its European and French styles. Over the years, the boulevard has evolved, incorporating unique vegetation, sculptures, architectural monuments, and entertainment options. Visitors can explore beach bars, café-lounges, restaurants, and amusement rides. The boulevard also features notable landmarks such as the Ali and Nino statue, the Batumi Lighthouse, and dancing fountains. The Batumi Lighthouse, predating the boulevard, was built in 1863 and redesigned in 1882 by French engineers. It also has a unique location, situated where the 41st degree of longitude and latitude parallels intersect. The boulevard has undergone significant expansions, including a 2009 project by a Spanish architect that added a 1200-meter stretch designed with modern landscape planning. The antique-style colonnades, a symbol of the boulevard, were brought from Italy in 1930.
