After about 15 km, look for signs directing you to Khertvisi Fortress and turn onto the access road. The fortress is located about 5 km off the main road. There is a parking area near the fortress, and no fees are required for parking.

To reach Khertvisi Fortress via public transportation, take a marshrutka (minibus) from Akhaltsikhe to Vardzia. Marshrutkas leave regularly from the central bus station in Akhaltsikhe. After approximately 30 minutes, ask the driver to let you off at the Khertvisi Fortress stop. From there, it’s a short walk (about 1 km) to the fortress entrance. The fare for the marshrutka is typically around 1 GEL.
