Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Akhaltsikhe. Head south on the E691 road towards Vardzia. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will see signs for Vardzia and the Visitor Center. Follow the signs to Khertvisi, then take the right turn towards Vardzia-Mirashkhani. The Visitor Center is located just before the entrance to the Vardzia cave monastery.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Vardzia Visitor Center by public transport, first take a marshrutka (minibus) from Akhaltsikhe to Vardzia. Marshrutkas leave regularly from Akhaltsikhe’s main bus station. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival in Vardzia, you will find the Visitor Center near the entrance to the Vardzia cave monastery. Make sure to check the marshrutka schedule for return trips, as they may not run frequently.

  • Walking

    If you arrive at the Vardzia area and wish to walk to the Visitor Center from the marshrutka stop, it is a short walk of about 10 minutes. Just follow the road that leads to the entrance of the Vardzia cave monastery, and you will see the Visitor Center on your left before reaching the entrance.
