Shaori Reservoir: Racha's Serene Jewel

Shaori Reservoir, located in the Ambrolauri Municipality, is the largest reservoir in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. Situated at an altitude of 1100-1200 meters, it was created in the 1950s by damming the Shaori River. The reservoir stretches 7.1 kilometers long and 2.7 kilometers wide, with a maximum depth of 14.5 meters, holding 90 million cubic meters of water. Shaori is surrounded by the Nakerala Mountain Range, offering picturesque views and hiking opportunities. The mixed deciduous forests surrounding the lake are particularly stunning in autumn when the foliage reflects vibrant colors in the water. The area's climate is known for its healing properties, with cool summers and cold winters. While not a major tourist hotspot, Shaori Reservoir offers a variety of activities. Fishing is popular, with various fish species inhabiting the lake. Visitors can also enjoy swimming, boating, and hiking in the surrounding mountains. The area is also known for its abundance of mushrooms, including the prized Caesar's mushroom. Small infrastructure enhancements have been made around the reservoir, including swings by the lake, which provide excellent photoshoot opportunities. Shaori is easily accessible by car, with asphalt roads leading to the reservoir, located 20km from Ambrolauri and 275km from Tbilisi.
