Getting There

  • Walking

The final approach to Tobavarchkhili Lake involves a multi-day trek, typically starting from the village of Mukhuri. From Mukhuri, arrange transport (jeep or truck) to the Natipuru hut, which significantly shortens the initial, less scenic part of the hike. From Natipuru, the trail ascends through forests and alpine meadows towards Tsashkibuli (Okhoje) Lake. Continue past Okhoje Lake, climbing towards the Eastern Toba Pass (2902m). Descend from the pass, and Tobavarchkhili Lake will come into view. Note: This trek requires a good level of fitness and proper gear. There are no entrance fees for the lake itself, but transportation to Mukhuri and potentially jeep transport to Natipuru will incur costs. A jeep to Natipuru may cost 300-400 GEL.
