Giorgi Ioselani was our tour guide for a week-long tour of Svaneti. Unlike most visitors, we did not go for the hiking or skiing; we went for the culture. As a native Svan, Giorgi was the perfect guide. Besides exploring the fantastic natural history and architecture (without too much walking), we had wonderful experiences meeting local people, enjoying traditional music, wood carving, and even cooking lessons. We knew that Georgian cuisine in general was wonderful; regional Svan foods are delicious too. Giorgi is a great guide to a great region.
