Marani Milorauli is a family-owned winery located in Telavi, in the heart of Kakheti, Georgia's primary winemaking region. Rooted in a family tradition from the 1930s, the winery was given a fresh identity in 2015. Sandro Milorava, the owner and chief winemaker, is committed to using traditional Kakhetian methods to craft distinctive wines. Marani Milorauli embraces the ancient Georgian tradition of winemaking using qvevri, large clay vessels buried underground. This unique method, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, adds a special touch to their wines. The winery produces around 7,000 bottles annually, including a range of wines recognized at international wine competitions. They cultivate a variety of grapes, including both Georgian and European varieties such as Mtsvane, Kisi, Khikhvi, Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Aleksandrouli, Syrah, Montepulciano and Tempranillo. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings in the beautiful garden, sampling unique wines made from European grapes fermented in qvevri. The winery also offers a cozy retreat at their cellar hotel, where guests can savor authentic local dishes and learn about the intricacies of qvevri winemaking.
