Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Omalo, which is the main settlement in Tusheti. Drive along the Old Shuamta Monastery Road. The road is unpaved and may be rough in sections, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Follow the road for approximately 6 km until you reach the Dzveli Shuamta's Monastery. There will be clear signs indicating the direction to the monastery. Parking is available near the site.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transportation, first, take a marshrutka (minibus) from the town of Omalo towards the village of Shenako. Once you arrive at Shenako, you can either hike for about 4 km along Old Shuamta Monastery Road or hire a local taxi to take you directly to Dzveli Shuamta's Monastery. Be prepared for a short walk if you choose to hike, as the area is scenic and worth the experience.
Hiking
If you're up for an adventure, you can hike directly from Omalo to Dzveli Shuamta's Monastery. The hike is approximately 6 km and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.
