Car
If you're traveling by car, set your GPS to the coordinates 42.3859494, 45.3950238 or input the address '99PW+92C, Shavtskala'. From any location in Tusheti, follow the local roads towards Shavtskala. Make sure to have a 4WD vehicle as the roads can be rough and steep, especially in the last stretch. The drive may take about 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your starting point in Tusheti.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, you can take a local minibus (marshrutka) from the nearest town, Omalo, which is a common starting point for accessing Tusheti National Park. Look for marshrutkas heading towards Shavtskala. The fare is generally around 10 GEL. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Upon reaching Shavtskala, you can walk to Tusheti National Park, which is about a 15-minute walk from the minibus drop-off point.
Hiking
If you are already in Tusheti and prefer hiking, you can explore the scenic routes leading to Tusheti National Park. From Omalo, take the trail towards Shavtskala. The hike is about 5 kilometers and can take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have adequate water and snacks for the journey.
