The final 4.5 kilometers into Tambovka are on an unsealed road, manageable in a sedan. From Tambovka, a bumpy, unpaved dirt track leads to the base of Shaori Mountain, requiring a 4WD vehicle and experienced driver. Several families in Tambovka offer rides to the hiking start point for a small fee; inquire locally. Taxis from Tbilisi to Shaori Fortress cost approximately $30-40. Car rentals in Tbilisi start from $35 USD per day.

To reach Shaori Fortress via public transport, take a marshrutka (minibus) from Tbilisi to Ninotsminda. From Ninotsminda, hire a taxi to Tambovka village. In Tambovka, arrange for a local driver with a 4WD vehicle to take you to the starting point of the Shaori Fortress hike. The marshrutka fare from Tbilisi to Ninotsminda ranges from 5 to 15 GEL.
