Discover more about Alpspix

Perched at an altitude of 2,050 meters on the Osterfelderkopf, a sub-summit of the Alpspitze, the AlpspiX viewing platform is an unmissable attraction in the Garmisch-Classic area. Inaugurated in July 2010, this bold steel structure features two intersecting walkways that form a distinctive 'X' shape, hence the name, which combines 'Alpspitze' and 'X'. Each arm of the AlpspiX extends 24 meters, with 13 meters hovering dramatically over the abyss of the Höllental valley. The walkways are constructed with gratings, providing a transparent floor that allows visitors to gaze directly into the depths below. At the end of each arm, a slanted glass panel offers an unobstructed panoramic view, amplifying the sensation of floating in the air. From the AlpspiX, visitors can enjoy unparalleled views of the Zugspitze, the Alpspitze north face, and the charming town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen nestled in the valley. The platform is easily accessible via the Alpspitzbahn cable car, making it suitable for families, seniors, and visitors with disabilities. A short, mostly level walk from the mountain station leads to the platform. For those seeking a more immersive experience, the AlpspiX serves as a starting point for several scenic hiking trails. The summit adventure trail and the pleasure adventure trail offer family-friendly options for exploring the surrounding alpine landscape.
