Getting There

• By Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Bayrischzell. From the A93 motorway, take the exit towards Bayrischzell/Braunlage and follow the B307 road. The scenic drive will take you through beautiful landscapes. Once you reach Bayrischzell, follow the signs for Wendelstein. There is a parking area near the Wendelstein cable car station, where you can park your car for a fee of approximately €5 for the day.

• By Train

  For those using public transportation, take a train to Bayrischzell. You can catch a train from major cities like Munich; the journey typically takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Bayrischzell train station, exit the station and look for bus services that take you to the Wendelstein cable car station. The bus ride will be approximately 15 minutes and may cost around €2 to €3. Alternatively, it's a short 20-minute walk to the cable car station if you prefer to stretch your legs.

• Cable Car

  After reaching the Wendelstein cable car station by car or public transport, purchase a ticket for the cable car ride to the summit. Tickets typically cost around €14 for a round trip. The cable car will take you up to the peak, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Alps and surrounding areas. The cable car operates from morning until late afternoon, so be sure to check the schedule for the last ride back down.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, there are hiking trails leading to Wendelstein from various starting points, including Bayrischzell. The hike can take around 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and check weather conditions before you set out. The trails are well-marked, but a map or GPS can be helpful.
