Baumwipfelpfad: Walk Among Giants

The Baumwipfelpfad Bavarian Forest, nestled in the Bavarian Forest National Park, offers an immersive experience within nature. Opened in 2009, this treetop walkway presents an unforgettable journey through the forest canopy, providing views and a deeper connection with the natural world. The path stretches for 1,300 meters, winding through the trees at a height of 8 to 25 meters. This elevated perspective allows observation of the forest ecosystem. Informative displays provide insights into the flora, fauna, and ecological processes. The highlight is the 44-meter-high observation tower, accessible via a ramp or elevator, offering panoramic views of the Bavarian Forest National Park. On clear days, the Alps can be seen. The walkway has a maximum gradient of 6%, making it accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. The complex includes the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus, an information center for the Bavarian Forest National Park, and an animal enclosure. The Bavarian Forest National Park, established in 1970, is Germany's first national park. Together with the adjacent Šumava National Park in the Czech Republic, it forms the largest contiguous forest reserve in Central Europe. Along the path, adventure stations with rope and wobbly bridges, trapezes, and balancing beams can be found. The tower itself encases three ancient fir and beech trees.
