    Discover more about Sinwell Tower

The Sinwell Tower, located within the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, offers visitors a chance to experience history while enjoying stunning panoramic views. Constructed in the latter half of the 13th century, the tower served as a vital defensive structure and a symbol of status for the castle. Its name, derived from Middle High German, means "extremely round," aptly describing its cylindrical form. Originally, the tower's entrance was located halfway up its structure. Today, visitors enter through an extension on the north side. Inside, a wooden spiral staircase, likely dating from the 18th or 19th century, leads to the observation platform. From the top, you can witness iconic landmarks such as St. Lorenz Church and Hauptmarkt. The tower also features photographs showcasing Nuremberg after the devastation of World War II. Despite its exposed position, the Sinwell Tower was one of the few castle buildings to survive the bombings. A visit to the Sinwell Tower provides not only a physical ascent but also a journey through time, connecting visitors with Nuremberg's rich medieval heritage and its resilience in the face of destruction.
