Walking
From the Dömitz Rathaus (town hall), walk south along Rathausplatz, then turn left onto Am Wall. Continue along Am Wall, following signs for the Festung Dömitz. The fortress entrance will be on your right. The walk is approximately 500m and should take about 5-10 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking to the fortress.
Public Transport
Take bus line 58 or Rufbus 812 from Ludwigslust train station to Dömitz. Get off at the Dömitz, Festung stop. From there, walk north along the road, turning left onto Am Wall. The fortress entrance will be on your right. A single bus fare from Ludwigslust to Dömitz costs approximately €4-€6.
Driving
Due to road closures on the B195 in Dömitz until the end of 2025, follow the detour via L04 (Hohe Brücke Dömitz). From the L04, follow signs to Dömitz. Once in Dömitz, follow signs to Festung Dömitz. Free parking is available in front of the fortress. Note: Road closures may add to travel time.
