If you are traveling by car from anywhere in Anhalt, take the A14 motorway towards Magdeburg. Merge onto the A2 towards Hannover and then take the exit for the B6 towards Wernigerode. Follow the B6, which will lead you directly into Wernigerode. Once you reach the town, follow the signs for 'Schloss Wernigerode' as you approach the castle. There is parking available near the castle, but be aware that there may be a small fee for parking.

From various locations in Anhalt, you can take a regional train to Wernigerode. If you are starting in Dessau, take the train towards Wernigerode via Magdeburg. Upon arrival at Wernigerode train station, exit the station and catch bus line 1 or 2, which will take you directly to the castle's entrance. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for departures and to purchase a ticket from the machine at the station, which typically costs around €2.50.
