Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the A19 motorway. From the A19, take the exit toward Rostock and merge onto the B103. Follow the B103 until you reach the signs for Warnemünde. As you approach Warnemünde, follow the signs to the town center. Once in Warnemünde, look for signs directing you to Alter Strom. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that fees will apply, typically around €1-2 per hour.

• Train

  For those using public transportation, you can take a regional train from various locations in the Baltic Sea Coast to Rostock Hauptbahnhof (main train station). Once you arrive at Rostock Hauptbahnhof, transfer to the S-Bahn (commuter train) line S1 toward Warnemünde. The journey takes about 20 minutes. After arriving at Warnemünde station, it is a short 10-minute walk to Alter Strom. Simply head east toward the waterfront, and you will see the picturesque canal lined with shops and restaurants.

  Alternatively, you can take a bus to Warnemünde. Check local schedules for buses that head toward Warnemünde from nearby towns. Upon arrival at the Warnemünde bus station, it’s a short walk to Alter Strom. Follow the signs to the waterfront, and you will find yourself at this charming historic landmark. Bus fares vary, typically costing around €2-3.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer a more active approach, consider cycling to Alter Strom. There are designated cycling paths throughout the Baltic Sea Coast leading to Warnemünde. This is a scenic option, allowing you to enjoy the coastal views. Once in Warnemünde, there are bike racks available near Alter Strom where you can park your bicycle.
