Discover more about Künstlerhaus Bethanien

Künstlerhaus Bethanien is a vital space for artistic exploration and public engagement, continually shaping and reflecting the evolving landscape of contemporary art. Established in 1974, the Künstlerhaus Bethanien has become a pivotal platform for artists worldwide, fostering creative exchange and innovation. For many years, Künstlerhaus Bethanien was located in the historic Bethanien Building (originally built as a hospital). In 2010, it moved into the commercial courtyard known as the "Lichtfabrik", enhancing its facilities, providing expanded event spaces, additional studios, and improved workshop and exhibition areas, strengthening support for resident artists and their integration into Berlin's dynamic art scene. The institution's International Studio Programme annually hosts professional artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. Participants are offered fully equipped studios and opportunities to present their work through monthly exhibitions and "Open Studios" events. The diverse exhibition program addresses current social and cultural processes. Collaborations with curators, artist groups, and international institutions result in approximately six exhibition projects annually, each accompanied by guided tours, discussions, and artist talks, facilitating deeper public interaction with the artworks.
