Discover more about Teufelsberg

Teufelsberg, meaning Devil's Mountain, is a man-made hill in Berlin's Grunewald forest with a fascinating and complex history. Created after World War II from approximately 26 million cubic meters of rubble from the devastated city, it covers an unfinished Nazi military-technical college. During the Cold War, the US military recognized the hill's strategic importance and constructed a listening station, known as Field Station Berlin, to spy on East German and Soviet communications. The station, with its distinctive radomes, operated until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Today, Teufelsberg is a unique destination that blends history, art, and nature. The abandoned listening station has become one of the largest street art galleries in Europe, with vibrant murals and graffiti covering the buildings. Visitors can explore the grounds, admire the art, and enjoy panoramic views of Berlin. The site also hosts historical exhibitions, offering insights into its Cold War past. Teufelsberg is popular among mountain bikers, hikers, and those seeking unique views and a glimpse into Berlin's layered past.
