Train
From Dresden, head to the main train station, Dresden Hauptbahnhof (Hbf). You can either walk or take tram lines 1, 2, or 8 to reach the station. Once at the train station, purchase a ticket to 'Bad Schandau'. The regional train (S-Bahn or RE) to Bad Schandau departs frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Upon arrival at Bad Schandau, exit the train station.

After exiting the train station in Bad Schandau, look for the bus stop in front of the station. You can take bus line 241 or 242 towards 'Schönfeld' or 'Lichtenhain'. Make sure to check the bus schedules as they vary. The bus ride will take around 20-30 minutes, depending on your specific destination within the park. If you are heading to the 'Lichtenhain Waterfall' or 'Schrammsteine', inform the bus driver or check the route map at the stop.

If you prefer to walk from Bad Schandau, you can take the scenic route along the Elbe River. From the train station, head towards the riverbank and follow the signs for the hiking trails. The paths are well-marked, and you will be able to enjoy stunning views of the sandstone cliffs as you walk towards various viewpoints within the park. Depending on your walking pace and chosen route, this can take from 1 to 2 hours to reach popular spots like the Bastei or the Schrammsteine.
