From the Plönlein, walk along Untere Schmiedgasse, passing the old town moat, directly to the Marktplatz. From the Rothenburg ob der Tauber train station, exit the station and walk straight ahead, following the main road (Bahnhofstraße) towards the old town walls. Enter the old town through the Rödertor gate, then continue straight ahead on Rödergasse, which leads directly to the Marktplatz. The walk from the train station takes approximately 10 minutes. No costs are associated with walking.

While the Marktplatz is easily walkable from most areas, local bus lines operate within Rothenburg. The closest bus stops to the Marktplatz are 'Marktplatz' and 'Rathaus'. P4 (at Galgentor) is closest to the city wall. From there, it's a short walk through an archway in the city wall to the Marktplatz. Be aware of the night driving ban in the core area of the old town from 7 PM to 6 AM.
